Security video shows a group of coyotes. One of them got a rat that was in the bushes.
City Requirement Sky Ranch Landscape
Sky Ranch is one of the City Landscape Maintenance Districts. If the HOA fails to maintain the landscape, the City may levy assessments and do it. Wishing the HOA away is not a solution. Defunding the slopes was a failure to comply with the CC&Rs, and it risked the City taking charge. So far, the City has opted for persuasion and fines. The excerpt below is from a report in the tax section of the City Council agenda packet.
Irrigation 11:45 am - 1:15 pm at minimum
Irrigation below the beehives ran from at least 11:45 am to 1:15 pm, today, during the heat of the day. These same sprinklers were running yesterday, but that might have been part of a test because landscapers were present then.
Sky Ranch Unit 3 Accepted By the City
The City accepted the public improvements for Unit 3 of Sky Ranch (Resolution 080-2022.pdf). The public streets/sidewalks in the area are now the responsibility of the City. Concerns regarding streets, sidewalks, and streetlights, in the area can now be directed to the City. All streets intended for maintenance by the City of Santee have been accepted.
Sex at the Park, CA 7XSF367
There were a number of cars parked at the entrance to the Sky Ranch park, and people were coming and going to the cars. I saw movement in the back of the car farthest up the hill. The windows were heavily tinted so I couldn’t see exactly what was happening but it appeared to be a couple having sex. When I took a photo of the license plate they appeared to get dressed and crawl into the front. I then started to call the Sheriff and they drove away. They passed by and appeared to be leaving the development as I was still on the phone. So classy to do this in broad daylight (7:15 pm, tonight) by the sidewalk by the entrance to the park with people walking by.

Bees Taking Advantage of HOA Irrigation Leak
Bees from a nearby (approx. 60 feet) Sky Ranch backyard beekeeper appear to be taking advantage of leaky HOA irrigation valves. I assume a landscaper got a bad surprise when he opened the lid.
Car Window Shattered Calico Street
I saw car window glass the other day on Calico Street. There is a vandalism incident at that location on the crime map. The shuttle parking there might bring more criminals to our neighborhood, though it could be the current crowd.
City Planning Street Resurface and Sky Ranch Park Repair
The City is planning to repair cracks and slurry seal the street from Sevilla Street to the End of Calico Street.
Repairs are planned for the playground surfacing at Sky Ranch Park.
